POPE DECRIES ABORTION IN CUBA

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Jan 22 (LSN) – On his first visit to Cuba, Pope John Paul II has spoken bluntly about the horror of abortion and frankly labeled it as a gross failure of Cuba’s communist system. In his homily at a Mass celebrated today, the pontiff denounced systems “which, under the guise of freedom and progress, promote or even defend an anti-birth mentality.”“Abortion … is always, in addition to being an abominable crime, a senseless impoverishment of the person and of society itself,”  he said.  Incredibly, the official Communist Party newspaper published much of what the pope has said. GERMAN GOV’T WANTS RC CHURCH IN ABORTION COUNSELLING

BONN, Jan 22 (LSN) – Despite his suspicions that the Pope will or has already forbidden the Catholic Church in Germany to participate in abortion counselling, German chancellor Helmut Kohl added his voice to calls for the Catholic Church not to abandon its role in the country’s abortion counselling system on Tuesday. Kohl joins Labor Minister Norbert Bluem, and German speaker of Parliament, Rita Suessmuth, in asking the German Church to continue its involvement in the counselling.  German abortion law requires certification that women seeking to abort their children have contacted a qualified counselor and know about offers of help […]

Jefferson, told the homosexuals aboard the “love” boat that they would not be welcome because past behavior shows […]

CLONING DEBATE RAGES ON

NEW YORK, Jan 21 (LSN) – The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and a Jewish Rabbi jumped into the cloning debate yesterday on opposite sides. The FDA warned researchers that it would shut down anyone who attempts human cloning without its permission. Dr. Michael Friedman, FDA’s acting commissioner, noted that the administration has the power to and is prepared to go to court to stop unauthorized cloning attempts. Friedman reported that the first cloning success—the Scottish sheep Dolly—took 277 tries and added that the FDA was “more interested in the 277 failures than in the success.”  Meanwhile, the New […]

SHERIFF REFUSES TO CATER TO ABORTIONIST

TAMPA, Fla, Jan 20 (LSN) – Lee County Sheriff John McDougall courageously refused the demand of an abortionist for help against pro-life demonstrators.  In December, abortionist Ali Azima wrote the Charlotte County sheriff’s office complaining about a prayer vigil held outside one of his abortuaries in Port Charlotte.
