OTTAWA, June 11 (LSN) – Planned Parenthood is financing an effort to lobby the Canadian government to funnel more tax dollars into the movement for global abortion on demand. A new non-governmental organization calling itself Action Canada for Population and Development (ACPD) was launched recently at the National Press Club in Ottawa.  ACPD head Katherine McDonald said, “The purpose of the panel is to draw attention to Canada’s lack of commitment to international family planning in terms of…finances,” said McDonald.  “Family planning” in such circles invariably means sterilization and abortion.

TORONTO, June 11 (LSN) – Yesterday, Ontario Premier Mike Harris praised the decision of Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman to march in Toronto’s Gay Pride parade June 28. “He has shown a lot of courage There is a lot of interest. OTTAWA, June 10 (LSN) – On Monday night, Reform MPs managed to pass a motion stripping the Liberal government of its power to invoke “closure” to shut down parliamentary debate. They intended the measure to send a message to the Liberals, none of whom was present in the House at the time. It will allow opposition MPs the opportunity to prolong debate on government business. The Government has threatened to force the House to remain in session until 4 a.m. June 23, to break the “filibuster” tactic.

TORONTO, June 10 (LSN) – Toronto’s Mayor Mel Lastman announced yesterday he would march in the Gay Pride parade June 28. TORONTO, June 10 (LSN) – In response to pro-life evangelist Rev. DETROIT, June 9 (LSN) – Oakland County medical examiner L.J. Dragovic says the body of Joseph Tushkowski,  a recent victim of Kevorkian-assisted-suicide, was mutilated. Dragovic also judged the death a homicide.  “They didn’t remove his sweater. They just pulled it up, then cut the belly,” Dragovic told reporters on Monday. “This is not a situation to be compared with the highly skilled act of organ procurement surgery…. We’re talking about a chopped-up body.”  Kevorkian announced recently he had “donor organs” available for transplant from a recent assisted-suicide victim.

OTTAWA, June 9 (LSN) – In a recent press release, the Canadian Family Action Council alerted concerned citizens that the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is holding public forums to discuss programming. The Family Action Council encourages Canadians to support Christian broadcasting, which is subject to arbitrary “balance” requirements by the CRTC, in order to prevent single-faith broadcasting.  Pro-family Canadians have long argued that there is a demand for more wholesome programming on Canadian airwaves; and it appears the CRTC initiative provides an opportunity to make the case once more. OTTAWA, June 9 (LSN) – At the annual convention of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC), the nation’s leading feminist group decided temporarily to refuse the government’s offer of 8 million tax-payer dollars for the coming year, protesting an accountability requirement the government introduced this spring. The federal government now requires that NAC submit the plans of their projects for consideration before funding is granted.
