ABORTIONIST CHARGED WITH MURDER ATTENDS VANCOUVER CONFERENCE

VANCOUVER, May 26 (LSN) – A US abortionist charged with murder was allowed into Canada to attend the National Abortion Federation’s annual conference in Vancouver, May 17-20. A report detailing the charges against Bruce Steir of Chico, California and his attendance at the conference was sent to the Reform Party’s immigration critic, Randy White.  BC pro-lifers held a 96-hour Vigil for Love and Life outside the abortionist conference. NOVA SCOTIA AWARDS GAY BENEFITS

HALIFAX, May 26 (LSN) – The Nova Scotia government has capitulated to pressure from gay activists to award spousal survivor benefits to homosexuals. AUSTRALIAN BISHOP OFFERS HELP TO MOTHERS IN CRISIS

PERTH, Western Australia May 25 (LSN) – Perth’s Catholic Archbishop Barry Hickey has offered aborted women help in suing abortionists who violate informed consent laws. “Women who have been misled and poorly informed about abortion and its consequences may count on the Church’s help to seek damages against the doctor who performs the abortion,” the archbishop said. MAN KILLS WOMAN FOR REFUSING ABORTION

VAN NUYS, Louisiana, May 25 (LSN) – A jury has found Alfred E. Smith guilty of second-degree murder in the death of ex-girlfriend Denna Moody. Smith killed the 39-year-old mother last April, because she refused to abort their preborn child.  Sentencing is scheduled for June 11. The jury heard evidence that Moody had been pregnant by Smith before,  and that he had pressured her to have an abortion in that case as well. Moody adamantly refused.

ANTIGONISH, NS, May 25 (LSN) – Mr Justice Ron Pugsley of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal ruled last week that an Antigonish County couple pose a danger to their children, because they use corporal punishment to discipline their children. ACID ATTACKS AGAINST FLORIDA ABORTUARIES CONTINUE

MIAMI, May 22, 1998 (LSN) – A total of eight Florida abortuaries have been subjected to butyric acid   fume attacks in the past week. Three women were slightly injured and patients and staff were forced to avacuate the centers. As a result of the action, it was discovered that one of the abortuaries may have been performing illegal abortions. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.  The attacks began the day after Gov. Lawton Chile vetoed the “Choose Life” licence plate approval   won by a campaign that raised the necessary 10,000 signatures for such initiatives.

NEW AUSTRALIAN ABORTION LIBERALIZATION HAS A CATCH

AUSTRALIA, May 22, 1998 (LSN) – Previously reported changes to West Australian abortion laws   repeal criminal sanctions for women obtaining abortions and require informed consent before   abortionists can legally perform an abortion.The “stinker”, according to abortion providers, is that the law still allows for criminal sanctions against abortionists who do not properly follow the informed   consent provision which was included by pro-life MPs.  Pro-lifers are offering support to women who wish to take legal action for wrongful abortion under the   new law.
