PARENTAL NOTIFICATION LAW FACES FINAL HURDLE IN FLORIDA

TALLAHASSEE, May 1 (LSN) – A bill requiring that girls under 18 notify at least one parent before procuring an abortion was passed by the Florida Senate Thursday, and is awaiting final approval from Governor Lawton Chiles. The law does not require parental permission for abortions. It also for court-approved exemptions in some cases. In spite of such concessions, it appears the governor may veto the measure.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA DOCTORS HALT ABORTIONS IN PROTEST

WESTERN AUSTRALIA, May 1 (LSN) – Most doctors in the state of Western Australia stopped committing abortions yesterday, protesting delays in efforts to liberalize the state’s abortion law. That law,  while relatively strict on paper, had not been enforced for decades. Recent charges against two abortionists touched off a storm of controversy, with abortion supporters calling for repeal. Reacting to news of the doctors’ protest, pro-abortion groups suggested that taxpayer money be used to airlift abortion-minded mothers to hospitals where abortion “services” are still available.

STACKED PANEL GIVES PREDICTABLE THUMBS UP TO RU486

BOSTON, Apr 30 (LSN) – The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) published a report today on a study of RU486 conducted by “researchers” from the Population Council, an extremist pro-abortion group. The report, which predictably found in favour of the abortifacient drug, was commissioned after President Bill Clinton took the extraordinary step of inviting the manufacturer to apply to market the poison in the United States, in 1993. Clinton, whose abortion advocacy is nothing short of fanatical, also interfered with Federal Drug Administration attempts to prevent illegal importing of the drug.  The Population Council “researchers” concluded mifepristone (RU486), is […]

ALBANY, NY, Apr 30 (LSN) – On Wednesday, the Task Force on Life and the Law, a New York-based panel of 24 “experts” in medicine, law, and ethics, recommended selective abortions for multiple pregnancies.  In such cases, which commonly result from in vitro fertilization procedures, the panel advised “fetus reduction,” in order to improve the chances of survival of the other children conceived.  Despite its offensive conclusion, the panel did expose a dangerous trend within the field of IVF.  They warned that information given to IVF candidates is “seriously deficient,” and they urged state legislators to require that clients be […]

NEW BOOK CALLS FOR A PARENT’S MOVEMENT

SAN FRANCISCO, Apr 29 (LSN) – Authors Cornel West and Sylvia Ann Hewlett have written a new book which hit bookstores two weeks ago arguing powerfully that society has undermined parenting. In “The War Against Parents: What We Can Do for America’s Beleaguered Moms and Dads” (Houghton Mifflin), the authors present solid arguments showing how modern culture has manufactured the downfall of stable family life with anti-family salaries, taxation, media and pop psychology.  The book, reviewed in the San Francisco Chronicle, demonstrates the devastating effects of the war against the family with truly alarming statistics. The authors conclude with a […]
