OTTAWA, Mar 19 (Lifesitenews.com) Health Minister Allan Rock is seriously considering the creation of a federal commissioner to enforce child rights. While being pushed in Canada by Liberal MP Karen Kraft Sloan and Liberal Senator Landon Pearson, the concept comes from the United Nations which has long sought to remove children from the control of their parents.
Pro-family advocates fear a child czar in Canada would rapidly increase the move to undermine the rights of parents regarding the upbringing and education of their children. Reform MP Eric Lowther commented on the proposal saying, This is dreadful, these people see themselves as every child’s parent; it’s intrusive; it’s another example of a burdensome bureaucracy that intrudes into the lives of families and children.” The proposal is expected to cost $6 million to start.
