SANTIAGO, December 5, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Bio-Ethics Commission of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference has called the public’s attention to the danger of AIDS prevention campaigns which impose the use of condoms generating false security in people and thus increasing the risk of infection.
Fides News Service, reports on a declaration issued for World Day Against AIDS, issued by the Commission. The declaration proposes that education in human sexuality should “value human dignity integrating sexuality in the context of authentic, faithful love, capable of self control and to desire the real good of the person loved”.
The Commission also recalled recommendations coming from international bodies which said that a far safer way to avoid infection is to abstain from sexual relations or to be faithful to one partner. With regard to the use of the condom, the Commission quoted scientific publications which affirm that condom use fails in 20% of the cases.
