November 23, 1998   The life of Tracy Latimer has been reaffirmed. Campaign Life Coalition is relieved that Robert Latimer will be punished for the murder of his 12 year old daughter and will serve at least 10 years in prison without parole.  The lives of other disabled children may be saved because of this decision. A child with disabilities requires special protection and must be allowed to live in our country without the fear that she will be murdered, by her parents or care-givers, because she is disabled.  “Handicapped groups and individuals must be breathing a collective sigh of relief,” says Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “I thank the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal for upholding the dignity of Tracy Latimer’s life.”  Contact: Mary Ellen Douglas, Kingston, Ontario 1-613-389-4472 Karen Murawsky, Ottawa, Ontario 1-613-729-0379
