Clinton, Obama Compete: Who Loves Homosexuality More?

WASHINGTON, DC, June 23, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) — In a continuation of their presidential-primary struggle for the position of strongest supporter of homosexuality, both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton have been straining in recent months to show their supporters that they will march in step with the full gamut of the “gay rights” agenda.
Obama recently declared June to be “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.” To coincide with “Pride” month, he expanded the definition of a 1993 federal law so that private employers across the nation will be forced to give their employees unpaid leave to take care of a same-sex “partner” or such a partner’s child. Pro-family advocates denounced the measure as blatantly illegal for violating the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
Obama also recently issued a memorandum ordering executive departments and agencies to extend as many benefits to same-sex “partners” of federal employees as the law permits. And in his Father’s Day proclamation he referenced homosexual families with “two fathers.”
Finally, Obama has thrown his weight behind the current efforts to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and to allow homosexuals to serve openly in the military.
Clinton, however, has been no less enthusiastic in courting the support of LGBT activists.
At a recent “LGBT Pride” event Clinton recalled that as a New York senator she sponsored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would force businesses to hire homosexuals no matter what the beliefs of the business owner, and also sponsored the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act, which would make same-sex domestic partners of federal employees be treated as if they were spouses by the government.
Clinton also described how the State Department, beneath her leadership, has been committed to promoting a homosexualist program similar to the one she supported as a senator.
In Albania, Clinton said, after someone “came out” as homosexual on a popular television program, the U.S. ambassador went on television to support him, visited his hometown, and invited him to an event at the U.S. Embassy. In Slovakia, another U.S. representative marched in the nation’s first gay pride parade. She also mentioned other means that the U.S. is using to promote the homosexualist agenda, such as special aid earmarked for LGBT activists and increased protection for refugees “who face persecution because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
But, she added, “as we continue to advance LGBT rights in other countries, we also must continually work to make sure we are advancing the agenda here.”
Clinton said she was pleased to announce that “for the first time, gender identity will be included along with sexual orientation in the State Department Equal Opportunity Statement.”
“Gender identity” is a term used by LGBT activists to indicate whether people “see themselves” as male, female, or something else. The fact that someone has a “gender identity” at variance with their biological sex is used by such activists to justify cross-dressing, male use of female bathrooms, and similar behaviors.
Clinton also hailed a new policy of the Bureau of Consular Affairs that makes it easier for males to list themselves as women and females to list themselves as men on their passports if they plan on undergoing “gender change” surgery.
She concluded by telling her audience that despite such promising advances, the homosexualist struggle must continue.
“The struggle for equality is never, ever finished,” she said. “And it is rarely easy, despite how self-evident it should be.”
Everyone ought to recommit themselves to building a future where all are “free to live up to their God-given potential wherever they live and whoever they are,” she said.
