(LifeSiteNews) — A Colorado teacher refused to allow a seventh-grade student to present pro-life poetry in class because it was deemed “offensive.”
Libs of TikTok published an exclusive interview in which the student explained that she was barred from presenting a poem lamenting the killing of babies through abortion despite the fact that the poem “met all the criteria” needed for the assignment.

The seventh-grade students at Drake Middle School were asked to write a slam poem “about a conflict in the world” that they are “passionate” about.
The teacher reportedly tried to kick the girl out of class during other students’ presentations but relented after the student “further questioned” the teacher.
The girl’s mother shared that the pro-life poem was considered to be “too political” despite the fact that other students were permitted to present poems that discussed racial issues, LGBTQ “rights,” and immigration.
Libs of TikTok said the teacher further claimed that the pro-life poem would make students feel “unsafe.” The social media account also alleged that “slamming the second amendment” and “mocking Jesus” are “accepted” in the same classroom.
The girl recited her poem, which was praised as “beautiful” by social media users, in a recording posted by Libs of TikTok.

The slam poem begins as follows:
“A life is a life, no matter how small.
Seventy-three million people have been killed in one year and will be killed again this year if not more when they are completely innocent humans.
They never get to see the light of day before they are cast away.
They did nothing wrong except exist and were dismissed.
People say women need health care but never think how unfair—they kill baby for simply being there!
The Word of God says, ‘You knit me together into my mother’s womb.’ How come we never listen to this and try send them to the tomb?”
The girl’s mother said her own mother became pregnant at age 14 and chose life, resulting in strong pro-life convictions in her own family.
“There’s hope in hard situations. There’s purpose in pain. Good things come out of situations that seem bleak. My family is proof of that,” the mother said, according to LifeNews.
LifeSiteNews contacted Drake Middle School to inquire whether the student has since been allowed to present her poem and for further comment but has not received a response.
Drake Middle School is part of Jefferson County Public Schools, which has frequently stirred up controversy for what have been criticized as unethical and wildly “progressive” practices.
For example, the school district forced a fifth-grade girl to share a room with a gender-confused male on an overnight trip to Washington, D.C., telling her not to talk about the gender-confused male’s actual sex.
The girl’s poem in full is as follows:
A life is a life, no matter how small.
Seventy-three million people have been killed in one year and will be killed again this year if not more when they are completely innocent humans.
They never get to see the light of day before they are cast away.

The Word of God says, “You knit me together into my mother’s womb.” How come we never listen to this and try send them to tomb?
I am fearfully wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, His work is also wonderful.
A person is a person, no matter how small. Life is life—no matter how small. We often forget this important detail. This detail could save our lives.
Sixty percent of babies who weren’t intended have died because of this.
Why do people kill these innocent babies with the pill?
Why do they say that babies in their womb are mistakes and things need to be gotten rid of? Why why why?
When you ask someone if murder’s bad, they say yes, of course.
But when you tell them that killing innocent babies isn’t good enough they shame you.
They blame women’s rights on health care but what about baby’s right? That’s unfair.
From where they were created, they are a human person.
They were created in God’s image.
People say “women’s rights on health care — that’s just a clump of cells.”
But no one dwells on the fact that baby still has heartbeat at six weeks. Boom boom, boom boom.
Nothing compares to love a mother has for her baby.
So maybe we let them have chance to live and that love will grow.
Destruction, dismay, dread … When will people comprehend this needs to come to an end?
Our life is our life no matter how small.
