HOLLYWOOD, September 20, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Comedian Andy Richter had some harsh words for anyone who does not believe Planned Parenthood does not do good work: “F— ‘em!”

Andy Richter, best known as the sidekick to late night talk show host Conan O’Brien, made the comment after thanking the organization for its role in helping his current wife abort their first child.

Richter told the story of his abortion while hosting the “Sexy Beast” fundraiser for the Planned Parenthood L.A. affiliate on September 10.

He fathered a child while performing in a show with his then-girlfriend, Sarah Thyre, in 1992. The couple maintained a strained, long-distance relationship afterward, with Richter in Chicago and Thyre in New York.

“When she called me to tell me that she was pregnant, it was not exactly happy news,” he said. “Luckily for us, Planned Parenthood existed.”

Richter personally drove to New York to attend the abortion.

“She knew that she was doing the right thing for everyone involved,” said Richter, although said he acknowledged his actress and writer girlfriend “was sad, and I was sad, and it was sad.”

The couple broke up after the abortion but later reconciled, marrying in 1994. They now have “a couple kids, and a parrot and two dogs.”

“Planned Parenthood gave two young struggling people the ability to do the thing that is in their name: We got to plan parenthood,” he said. “And for that, I will be eternally grateful.”

The comedian said he had no trouble publicly supporting the organization, which performed hundreds of thousands of abortions a year.

“Planned Parenthood helps a ton of people,” Richter told The Hollywood Reporter after his turn as emcee. “If they don't agree with that, f— 'em. You can quote me on that. Tell them I said, 'F— 'em.'”

Richter had been tapped to lead the star-studded fundraiser after attacking pro-life advocates on Twitter as “lying political opportunists” whose “vile, cynical, willfully ignorant propaganda” encouraged the shooting of a Planned Parenthood last November. However, the pro-life movement condemned the violence en masse, and numerous examinations found the shooter mentally incompetent.
