There is very good news from the Ohio legislature. Pro-life teen Elizabeth Trisler will now be allowed to receive her legislative honor. Congratulations to LSN readers and others for the effectiveness of your communications on this issue.
Check out the fascinating video of a very biased television interviewer's hapless attempt to trap a Canadian Member of Parliament on the abortion issue.
The Canadian Development and Peace saga continues. There have certainly been some positive developments in response to our extensive investigative efforts from last year, but there are still major disappointments. There has still been no public admission that there were indeed serious problems with many of the groups funded by D&P – despite overwhelming evidence. Worse yet, at least some of the problem groups still appear to be receiving funds from the Canadian Catholic Bishops' social justice organization. This is very concerning.
And in the United States, the CCHD situation is not looking good so far. The revelations of serious problems continue, as do the attempts to downplay or distract from the gravity of these problems.
The great US snowstorm confined two of our US staff, Matt Anderson and Peter Smith, to our US office within the Human Life International building in Front Royal, Virginia for two days over the weekend. Luckily, the HLI building had guest rooms for them to sleep in. The following two photos give some idea of the very uncommon magical winter wonderland that the snow created. Also, I received an email from Kathleen Gilbert on Saturday stating that she did not respond to me sooner because she was out shaking trees – ? She later explained that branches on the trees around her home in Arlington were breaking because of the weight of snow on them. She was trying to prevent more damage by shaking off the snow..
