News

Dear Readers,

The battle goes on as Obama has nominated one the most pro-abortion governors in the United States, Kathleen Sebelius, as Health Secretary.  While Sebelius claims to be Catholic, the scandal of her prominence is lessened greatly by the fact that her outspokenly pro-life and unafraid bishop has publicly told her not to receive Communion.

If there were many more Archbishop Chaput’s, there would likely soon be far less of a need for a LifeSiteNews. Read our report today on the conversation we recently had with the Denver Archbishop. Some of what he says is indeed disturbing, but the good news is that he is a bishop actually saying it. What is the saying, “recognizing and accepting your problem is the first step to recovery?” Very many Catholic bishops have been in a state of denial for years about the gravity of the advance of the abortion culture, as well as the decline of the Catholic Church in North America with resulting negative effect on society. But that has begun to change – finally.

There has been a hue and cry within some circles about our past coverage of the Cherie Blair invitation to speak at the Angelicum in Rome. We have been accused of sensationalism and making things up. We do check our facts, even if no one else reports them or is aware of them. Today’s report on feminist Blair further confirms it does not make sense that a Catholic with such unCatholic views was invited to speak at one of the Church’s most prestigious universities.

We are hearing that our reports on the London, Ontario St. Joseph’s hospital induction abortions has generated a lot of heat among those who would rather be highly offended than objectively consider the facts. Sadly, the shoot-the-messenger syndrome is very much happening on this one, as has often happened in the recent past when Church authorities have been made aware of serious problems in Church-related institutions. Say a few prayers that those who are making such unwarranted accusations about LifeSiteNews will reconsider their hasty judgement and instead calmly consider the evidence presented for the benefit of those special unborn children and their mothers.

The story on the Brazil Archbishop suspending the liberal priest is also an important read. You’ll find in our coverage, not reported in any other English services, that another Brazilian bishop (albeit thankfully a retired one) has objected to the Archbishop’s suspension of the wayward priest.  The battle for the soul of the Catholic Church is going on in earnest all over the world – above all on issues of morality and radical feminism. For many years liberals have had their way and have worked their way into very high positions.  With the work of Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, faithfulness is gradually reasserting itself, but not without a fight.

For life,
