Bravo for the state of Utah!, doctors in the UK regarding euthanasia and assisted suicide and the North Dakota bishops who appear to “get it” much more than most about what the most crucial “social justice” issues are, by far, today.

Last week’s full page article in the National Post regarding the lawsuit by Quebec priest Fr. Raymond Gravel against LifeSiteNews was a shocker for us. That was because it unexpectedly included several paragraphs of hurtful comments by Salt & Light CEO Fr. Tom Rosica against LifeSiteNews, while he also gave some qualified support for Fr. Gravel. 

Yesterday we have put together a measured response to that heavy hit to our reputation in a Canadian national newspaper. The editorial is a team effort by the editorial staff. We hope it will be received as a prudential and informative response.

This was not something that could be ignored because of the serious nature of the charges and the national publicity that they received.

It is interesting that today there is another story about a prominent priest with problematic views about abortion who is also not being disciplined by his bishop. Then there is the curiously timely story in today’s newsbytes about Fr. Hans Kung also still retaining his priestly faculties, despite years of very public and strong disagreement with some of the Church’s moral teachings, among other issues. There is definitely a pattern here.
