Dear readers,
There are so many stories of great significance for Wednesday, I don’t know where to begin.
Let’s start with the good news. The Archbishop of Toronto is taking decisive action on the allegations that the development arm of the Canadian Bishops Conference is financially supporting pro-abortion groups. He has ordered a detailed investigation and has let it be known their funding from his archdiocese is in jeopardy.
On the same subject, the National Catholic Register has done an independent investigation and found Development and Peace funding other pro-abortion groups in Latin America.
The story of the excommunication of the Brazilian doctors involved in the abortion of the twins of the nine-year-old rape victim has also created a huge stir as two Vatican prelates have come out on either side of the debate. But, by far the most important news item is the detailed defense of the Brazilian Archbishop’s actions which his archdiocese has offered. It demonstrates the great care that his office took to help the girl and her family and her unborn children. There’s more to come on that score too.
Also important to note is a further development on the ‘early inductions’ scandal in the diocese of London in Ontario. A woman whose unborn child was diagnosed with a severe heart problem was given the nod to get an early induction by the priest at the centre of the controversy. She rejected his counsel and the child is now four months old. Beautiful baby Jayla would have been dead long ago had her mother accepted the advice of the chief ethicist for the Diocese of London.
There’s lots more too but those are the must-reads.
God bless,
