It has been an exceptional news day today. Kathleen Gilbert’s touching interview with Jane Russell’s daughter-in-law has received a lot of attention, as it should. This is a story that needs telling far and wide.
The New York City council’s passage of its draconian pregnancy center gag law is alarming. Just how many more dead unborn children do they want to add to New York’s already astronomical abortion rate. Choice? They have no comprehension of the word.
I felt compelled to take a quick trip to New York for the funeral of Dr. Bernard Nathanson whom I had met a number of times over the years. He was a very special man who left a strong impression on those who met him. Nathanson would have been horrified at what his City Council has just done and bemoan that what he started has led to this. And yet, he knew that he was forgiven and that he made all the amends that he humanly could.
The funeral was a moving event and the reception afterwards a joyful pro-life family gathering with many dynamic pro-life friends who lead all kinds of organizations defending life and family. I’ll present more of their personal recollections of Dr. Nathanson in another report.
See Dr. Jack Willke’s fascinating reminiscence of Dr. Nathanson which was originally published in the International Right to Life Newsletter.
Part I of the Phill Kline trial is now over. We hope many readers have been following Peter Smith’s reports on these dramatic hearings. We especially hope that the reports will benefit the heroic efforts of Kline to bring about justice for the wronged young victims of sexual abuse and the criminally negligent abortion agencies in Kansas.
Archbishop Chaput has given yet another exceptional, prophetic talk, this time to pro-lifers. This is a MUST read. From our experience, what he says is ever so true and ever so necessary to be followed.
We have little time left to save and renew what remains of true Judeo/Christian culture. It is the ONLY answer to the world’s current, often seemingly unsolvable problems.
Heroism and sacrifice are called for. They are essential now. There is no other way.
The evil-empowering, lukewarm, milk toast or corrupt leaders must finally get out of the way or be pushed out of the way. They have done or allowed enormous damage. We are now realistically compelled to act to save our freedoms, save many lives and prevent rapid social meltdown.
The current wanting leaders could also, like Dr. Bernard Nathanson, Jane Russell, Phill Kline, the mayor of Saguenay, Quebec, Michele Bachmann, Pakistan’s Shahbaz Bhatti, Archbishop Chaput and others now coming to the fore, accept that there is indeed truth and that now is the time to become emboldened to proclaim and defend it, regardless of the personal consequences certain to be experienced in doing so.
In the end, it is well worth that price – for an eternal, priceless gift. As John-Paul II said many times – “be not afraid.”
