Dear Readers,
To many it might seem amazing that Joe Biden repeated almost the same errors on Catholic teaching on abortion that were just recently soundly and very publicly refuted by several U.S. bishops. It appears all that praiseworthy verbal correction fell on deaf ears: and likely not just those of Biden, but all other entrenched pro-abort Catholic U.S. politicians. How come they still don’t get it?
Let me repeat what was written in this space on August 28:
“…despite the wonderful statements by prominent US bishops in recent days, pro-abortion Catholic US politicians are not going to actually understand the Church’s teaching on abortion until the bishops use more than words, words, to uphold truth and charity.”
“Now is the time for long overdue actions, not as punishment, but as acts of charity to the pro-abortion Catholic politicians. Actions are also needed to correct the many years of deadly public confusion caused by the fact that these politicians have been able to continue in good standing in the Church while facilitating mass murder of unborn children. That has been sending a strong message that even militant abortion advocacy is not that serious for Catholics.”
The interest in Sarah Palin has not remotely died down. We have more fascinating news clips in our Palin News Highlights 3 for today. George Jonas’s witty comments have sparked much laughter. The media, while trying very hard to crucify Palin are getting crucified themselves.
Watching CNN’s attempt to repeatedly smear Palin’s religious beliefs and associations last night caused a lot of merriment in this household. It was pathetic and revealed incredible religious ignorance. For instance, do you know that Sarah Palin’s church actually believes that there will be an end times during which Jesus Christ will return? Nutbars! But then… that is what Christ actually said and which all Christians must believe. This type of thing went on and on. Those poor media people showed in spades that they didn’t have a clue.
In Canada, the Bloc Quebecois leader found something to flog as his political bogeyman – a Conservative MP who is a member of (hold your breath) Opus Dei! Duceppe has to create a conspiracy, because if there is not a vast “right-wing” conspiracy then what else will that hapless BQ leader be able to use to motivate Quebecers to actually vote for him? What a sad election campaign this is already turning out to be.
Tomorrow we run an interview with Campaign Life Coalition leader Jim Hughes on the election. Jim lays the ground for Canada’s social conservatives.
