WASHINGTON, DC, Nov 24 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Population Research Institute (PRI) International Conference, Human Rights in China: 50 Years Later, which took place last weekend protested China’s unconditional entrance into the World Trade Organization. Assembled for the first time since the Tiananmen Square massacre, China’s leading pro-democracy freedom fighters, together with US China policy experts, will discuss the full spectrum of human rights issues and the future of democracy in China.
Steven W. Mosher, President of PRI, and a recognized expert on China’s one-child policy recalled that in October Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the strict depopulation policy.
Speaking on the one-child policy, Mosher said “There are cases in China where brute force is used to perform abortion and sterilization. But more commonly, the Chinese government abides by its own Orwelian definition of voluntary, which is to say that you can fine the woman; you can lock her up; you can subject her to morning-to-night brainwashing sessions; you can cut off the electricity to her house; you can fire her from her job; you can fire her husband from his job, and you can fire her parents from their jobs.”
