(LifeSiteNews) – Some Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) Members of Parliament (MPs) came out blasting COVID jab mandates as “discriminatory,” saying rapid testing options should also be allowed to those who choose not to get the injections.
Mark Strahl, British Columbia CPC MP for Chilliwack-Hope, said his party believes in “choice for Canadians” and that “where people need to be vaccinated they should have another option like rapid testing,” according to Western Standard report.
Strahl is concerned about constituents who “are being told if they’re unable to be vaccinated they’re going to be fired.”
“I think that’s discriminatory,” said Strahl, adding he believes it’s also “punitive.”
“I don’t think it actually serves a public health purpose,” he added. “Those are the people I’m fighting for. I’m not here to fight for myself.”
Alberta CPC MP Glen Motz for Medicine Hat-Cardston said there are many “Canadians who are at risk of losing their jobs because of vaccine mandates and I think that’s a concern for many.”
“I have not disclosed my health status to anybody. I think the whole issue is a distraction. I think Trudeau’s done a great job of dividing Canadians, period,” added Motz, according to the Western Standard report.
Ontario CPC MP for Leeds-Grenville Michael Barrett said that the party should “maintain of course that rapid tests should be made available to anyone who hasn’t yet been vaccinated.”
Newly elected Ontario MP for Haldimand-Norfolk Dr. Leslyn Lewis recently took aim at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s push to get COVID vaccines in the arms of kids age 5-11, saying some parents do indeed “question” the safety of the injections.
In a recent statement, Lewis said that as most MPs are “vaccinated and the availability of rapid testing for those who are not,” the House of Commons “can and should operate as normal.”
“This is what we campaigned on as the Conservative Party – that we would respect the medical decisions that Canadians make. I’m glad that our leader has upheld this standard for our caucus,” Lewis said.
Last year, Lewis told LifeSiteNews that she was opposed to mandatory COVID-19 vaccines and had reservations about unethically sourced COVID-19 shots made from fetal cells obtained from aborted babies decades ago.
In early October, Trudeau announced unprecedented COVID-19 jab mandates for all federal workers and said the un-jabbed will no longer be able to travel by air, boat, or train.
Canada’s federal government also said it will ban democratically elected MPs and staff who have not had COVID jabs from accessing the nation’s center of democracy, the House of Commons.
Last Wednesday, the CPC caucus met in a meeting at which several MPs voiced concerns over House jab mandates, voicing their concerns to party leader Erin O’Toole.
But after Wednesday’s caucus meeting, O’Toole said all of his MPs will “be vaccinated” with the COVID jabs.
It is not known which CPC MPs have decided not to get the COVID jabs, but O’Toole last Wednesday did say he will challenge the Board of Internal Economy mandate.
Canada’s parliament is set to resume on November 22.
Trudeau was re-elected with a minority government. The CPC under O’Toole won only 119 seats, two fewer than in 2019.
Recently, People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier offered hope to Canadians weighed down by draconian COVID rules, saying the “future is ours” because “freedom” will win in the end.
In the fall 2021 federal election, Bernier ran a campaign on freedom, fighting against vaccine passports, mandates, and masks, as well as government overreach. He was the only party leader to do so.
The COVID-19 injections approved for emergency use in Canada, including the Pfizer jab for ages 12 and up, all have connections to cells derived from aborted babies.
All of the COVID jabs are still experimental, with clinicial trials not being completed until 2023.
All four have also been associated with severe side effects such as blood clots, rashes, miscarriages, and even heart attacks in young, healthy men, and have been linked to thousands of deaths along with millions of injuries across the globe.
Also, there have been reports of thousands of people who have developed tumors after getting their COVID shots.
