SIGN THE PETITION: Thank Donald Trump for banning transgenders from military service

July 26, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — President Trump’s bold move to ban “transgender” service in the Armed Forces “in any capacity” for the sake of America’s military preparedness has earned him a wave of praise from pro-family conservatives and bitter condemnations from LGBTQ activists.

In a three-part tweet this morning, Trump announced:

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

“Trump Bans Trans!” shouted the Drudge Report, linking to a New York Times story on Trump’s action, which likely renders obsolete a series of Armed Forces policies dealing with the “transgender” issue. That includes controversial Army training guidelines effectively advising women soldiers to acquiesce to showering, bunking and using restrooms with severely gender-confused men.

The White House policy change makes moot congressional efforts to block or slow down “transgender inclusion” in the military. On July 13, the House of Representatives failed in a close vote to ban taxpayer funding of transsexual “surgeries,” as 23 Republicans joined 190 Democrats to reject the amendment by Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Missouri, to a defense appropriations bill. House conservatives strategized over ways to resurrect the amendment after an avalanche of criticism directed at the renegade Republicans.

“AFA applauds President Trump for his courageous decision to end the usage of our military for social engineering and political correctness,” said American Family Association (AFA) president Tim Wildmon. “American families deserve a military that is focused solely on readiness and national defense.”

Walt Heyer, a former transsexual who now urges men not to go through with body-mutilating “sex reassignment surgeries,” said “bravo” to Trump “for being the Commander in Chief and preventing the madness of transgender people in the military that was about to take place.”

Heyer, author and founder of SexChangeRegret.com, told LifeSiteNews that Trump has thwarted “turning the military into a giant, tax-funded, sex-change clinic.”

Calls by conservatives had been growing for the Armed Forces to ditch President Obama’s “transgender-inclusive” policy in the military, which was announced late in his term by then-Defense Secretary Ash Carter (with the help of Obama’s openly homosexual Army Secretary, Eric Fanning). Obama’s pro-“transgender” policy was never voted on nor fully debated in Congress. It was slated to go into full effect July 1, allowing open recruitment of gender-bending people, before Defense Secretary James Mattis announced a six-month delay to review the policy before implementing it.

Micah Clark, president of AFA of Indiana, said, “The far left and their allies in the media are going to flip out” over Trump’s “transgender” ban.

“Homosexual activist demonstrators may well become violent,” Clark said. “It would be a good time to lift up President Trump in prayer.”

Evangelical ‘hate’ to blame?

Indeed, LGBT activists were quick to unleash their fury on Trump for reversing an Obama policy they hoped would be permanent.

Leftist atheist homosexual blogger Joe Jervis announced the news by stating, “Donald Trump, the self-described best friend the LGBT community ever had, is bowing to evangelical hate groups.”

An email by Zeke Stokes of the media LGBTQ group GLAAD warned ominously, “Make no mistake: The Trump administration is waging a coordinated, full-scale attack on LGBTQ people and our rights to live openly — even preventing us from serving the country we love.”

And the LGBTQ lobby group Human Rights Campaign (HRC) blared in an all-caps headline: “Breaking: Trump Launches All Out Assault on Service Members.”

“Today Donald Trump has proven himself as unpatriotic as he is unfit to serve as Commander in Chief. He has put a target on the backs of the more than 15,000 transgender troops proudly serving in our military,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “This heinous and disgusting action endangers the lives of American service members, undermines military readiness and makes our country less safe.“

Griffin’s “15,000 transgender troops” number appears to be inflated. The conservative One News Now reports that “there are as many as 250 service members in the process of transitioning to their preferred genders or who have been approved to formally change gender within the Pentagon’s personnel system, according to several defense officials. The Pentagon has refused to release any data on the number of transgender troops currently serving.

A Rand Corporation study “estimated that there are between 2,500 and 7,000 transgender service members on active duty and an additional 1,500 to 4,000 in the reserves,” ONN reported.

The New York Times reported that “the policy would affect only a small portion of the approximately 1.3 million activity-duty members of the military. About 2,450 are transgender, according to a study last year by the Rand Corporation, though the estimated number of transgender service members has varied.”
