LifeSite news reported on January 26, 1998 that Not Dead Yet was a “pro-life” group. However, Steven Drake, national organizer of the group has asked for a correction, noting that “Not Dead Yet is a SECULAR group of disability activists opposed to the legalization of assisted suicide and euthanasia.  We have ‘no’ position on abortion or the death penalty and our members (since we don’t ask them)  probably have positions on the latter two that cover every conceivable hue. Not Dead Yet’s opposition to assisted suicide and euthanasia is based on a disability rights perspective and an understanding of the forces of oppression in our society – oppression against the poor, the disabled, and the ‘inconvenient’.”
