PHILADELPHIA, Nov 5 (LSN) – In a ruling described as “a great victory” by Kate Kendell of the National Center for Gay and Lesbian Rights, a woman who was impregnated via sperm donation and in vitro fertilization while living with her lesbian partner was forced to share custody of her child with her former partner. The New Jesey ruling is thought to be the first of its kind since in similar cases judges have awarded custody to the biological parent.
