MEDICINE HAT, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her medical advisors have reached out to former Trump administration adviser Dr. Paul Alexander, an epidemiologist known for his strong criticism of COVID injections and government lockdowns.

“I’ve got a group of doctors advising me and I know that they’ve already reached out to Dr. Paul Alexander,” Smith said last week during a candidates debate for the Medicine Hat-Brooks byelection taking place on Tuesday.

“So, I’m interested in hearing what he has to say.”

According to Smith’s press secretary Rebecca Polak, Smith along with her Minister of Health Jason Copping – is constructing a “diverse” group of “qualified” medical professionals to advise her newly-formed government on a variety of health issues.

Polak noted that the new group of advisors will be announced in full by the end of the year, but did not make it clear whether Alexander will be a part of said team.

In 2020, Alexander who is a Canadian researcher and epidemiologist with expertise in evidence-based medicine –was recruited from his role as a pandemic advisor for the World Health Organization (WHO) to help assist the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump in the early days of the so-called COVID crisis.

Unlike most who have served as advisors in a public health capacity, Alexander has routinely spoken out against government lockdowns and the risks of the experimental COVID injections, going as far as saying the vaccines are a type of “biological weapon” that should never be given to children.

Smith’s decision to reach out to Alexander for advice seems to be in line with her trademarked anti-lockdown and anti-mandate platform, as well as her past statements indicating a desire to “restructure” Alberta Health Services (AHS) after the agency took a pro-mandate and pro-lockdown stance under her predecessor, Jason Kenney.

Only days into her new role as premier, Smith last month apologized to all the vaccine-free Albertans who were “discriminated” against during the COVID-19 so-called pandemic, while later mentioning she is working to pardon those who were fined under Kenney’s COVID-era legislation, particularly pastors.

Additionally, Smith said she will be amending the province’s human rights code to make it illegal to discriminate against a person because of his or her vaccine status.

Smith’s revelation that her team is seeking to consult Alexander comes during the same week a group of Alberta healthcare workers wrote to Smith thanking her for standing up for the unvaccinated, while also urging her to halt the COVID jab for young kids and put in protections for doctors and nurses to be able to speak freely about the novel vaccines.

Smith – who already serves as leader of the ruling United Conservative Party (UCP) – is vying for a seat in the province’s legislative assembly in a byelection taking place tomorrow in the riding of Medicine Hat-Brooks.
