Oct. 2, 2013 ( – Pro-lifers in Canada will take to Twitter Thursday to urge provincial governments to end taxpayer funding of abortion.

Campaign Life Coalition is organizing a tweet-a-thon from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to coincide with Defund Abortion rallies organized Thursday in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta, and Ontario. They are urging pro-lifers to use the hashtag #DefundAbortion throughout the day, and include their MPP’s handle in their tweets.

“Tweeting is an exceptional way to spread our message quickly and efficiently to the maximum amount of people – including to the media and to politicians alike,” said Alissa Golob, youth coordinator for Campaign Life Coalition. “If we are able to get #defundabortion trending with hundreds of people participating in this tweet-a-thon, this campaign will be impossible to ignore.”

“Be sure to tweet as many times as you can throughout the day and invite your friends to do the same,” the group writes on the event’s Facebook page.

Some of the tweets Campaign Life Coalition suggests pro-lifers use include:

  • Ontario taxpayers spend $50 million a year on abortion! NOT from my wallet! #defundabortion
  • If abortion is about the “right to choose”, I want the right to choose whether or not my tax-dollars go towards abortion #defundabortion
  • Ontario spends $50 mill on abortion. W $50 mill ON could hire 200 doctors,400 nurses,treat 500 additional autistic children #defundabortion
  • Kill babies with tax-dollars? Not from my wallet!! #defundabortion

“For all those who have Twitter, please join us. For those of you who don't have an account, please sign-up today to add your voice to the discussion and bring us one step closer to preventing our tax-dollars from going towards an elective procedure that kills a human life,” said Golob.
