(LifeSiteNews) — Delta Air Lines has replaced references to “mothers” and “fathers” with “birthing” and “non-birthing parents” in its employee benefits material, in the latest case of corporate appeasement of transgender ideology.
On Tuesday, X watchdog account Libs of TikTok highlighted a sample of the benefits language in Delta job postings, billed as a corporate culture “rooted in a shared dedication to living our values – Care, Integrity, Resilience and Servant Leadership – every day, in everything we do.”
Among the bullet points, it states that “Birthing parents are eligible for 12-weeks of paid maternity/parental leave,” and “Non-birthing parents are eligible for 2-weeks of paid parental leave.”
A link to the posting highlighted by Libs of TikTok was not provided, and the sample job posting LifeSiteNews found is a year old, but Delta’s “Benefits & Total Rewards” overview page confirms the company still uses the pro-transgender language, reiterating “Maternity + parental leave for up to 12 weeks at 100% base rate of pay for birthing parents” and “Two weeks parental leave paid at 100% for non-birthing, adoptive and surrogate parents.”
It is a dictate of progressivism that gender is no more than a matter of self-perception that individuals are free to change at will, with no correlation to one’s sex, which in reality is rooted in an individual’s chromosomes and reflected by hundreds of genetic characteristics.
Only females are physically capable of bearing children, though pro-LGBT activists who assert otherwise would like to reorient society’s understanding of gender to refer exclusively to perception. To that end, the media frequently promotes stories about so-called “pregnant transgender men” (who are actually women suffering from gender dysphoria) and research about transplanting wombs into men who “identify” as women.
Absent such semantic maneuvers or artificial machinations, however, all “birthing persons” or “birthing parents” are in fact mothers.
During COVID-19, Delta was pressured by the Biden administration into a policy that did not technically mandate vaccination for employees but imposed a $200 monthly surcharge on employees who rejected the shots and received company health insurance. It also complied with government mask mandates but abandoned them as soon as no longer legally forced to.
In January 2025, Delta director of pilot outreach Eric Hendricks declared, “DEI is not something that’s going to stop at Delta Airlines… we’re pressing on,” despite the Trump administration shifting the federal government against diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Not everyone within the airline is onboard with woke ideology, however.
In 2024, a viral video showed a transgender-identifying customer filming an interaction with two employees, apparently to berate them about “misgendering” a companion. Initially trying to defuse the situation, one of the employees ultimately stood up to the apparent activist’s intimidation efforts, warning him, “you’re being condescending, and if you want to continue, I’ll have Port Authority escort you out of the building right this moment if you want to play this game with me. Would you like to continue three days before Christmas? I really don’t mind.”
