(LifeSiteNews) –– An American pop star has released an angry pro-abortion song commemorating the first anniversary of the Dobbs decision, a track which pro-lifers describe as “shocking.”
31-year-old Demi Lovato debuted a new song last week, just in time for the one-year mark of the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade, revoking a Constitutional “right” to abortion and leaving legislation on the issue to individual states. The song, titled “Swine,” is a three-minute rant about the so-called “right” for women to kill their unborn babies at any time and for any reason.
Amid left-wing talking points about women’s rights and abortion advocacy, the song belittles women without the “freedom” to kill their babies in their wombs and draws a parallel between suppressing religious practices and bans on murdering the unborn.
“God forbid I wanna f*** whoever the f*** I want and if he c***, I guess I gotta be a mother,” the song begins. “F*** what I think, I don’t know a thing. The government knows my body. No, it’s okay, it’s better this way; I’m only a carbon copy. Even if I’m dying, they’ll still try to stop me.”
The chorus continues:
My life, my voice
My rights, my choice
It’s mine, or I’m just swine
My blood, my loins
My lungs, my noise
It’s mine, or I’m just swine
The second verse goes on to tell Christians to “picture your faith, imagine your God and even your Holy Bible is suddenly banned,” suggesting that banning abortion is on the same level as prohibiting Americans to practice their religion. Amid rants about women being “under compensated,” “too domesticated,” “underestimated,” and “under celebrated,” Lovato also raises a call to “give these mother f***ers hell.”
“I created ‘SWINE’ to amplify the voices of those who advocate for choice and bodily autonomy,” the singer wrote in a June 22 Twitter post. “I want this song to empower not only the birthing people [sic] of this country, but everyone who stands up for equality, to embrace their agency and fight for a world where every person’s right to make decisions about their own body is honored.”
It’s been one year since the Supreme Court’s decision to dismantle the constitutional right to a safe abortion, and although the path forward will be challenging, we must continue to be united in our fight for reproductive justice. Upon the song’s release, pro-lifers reacted on social media, pointing out the misguided message and recalling the dignity of both women and children that fails to come across in the lyrics.
“Notice the words that don’t appear in this tweet: women and babies. They don’t matter to abortion proponents like @ddlovato,” 40 Days for Life responded to the song. “They are more interested in ‘SWINE’ than humanity.”

“Demi Lovato just released an absolutely horrific song mourning the fall of Roe v. Wade, and we need to discuss it,” former Planned Parenthood executive Abby Johnson reacted on Twitter. “It is SHOCKING.”

The entire song is Demi yelling vulgarities about how she should be able to sleep with whoever she wants, and that the government shouldn’t be able… pic.twitter.com/87scs0gRKp

“Newsflash: The government IS NOT regulating your body when it comes to abortion… Abortion bans are in place to protect A SECOND body. The baby in a woman’s womb is not a woman’s body. It’s a totally different body.”
“Yes Demi, if you create a child, you should be raising them,” Johnson continued. “That’s how God created humans to function. When men and women make the CHOICE to create life, they are supposed to care for that life. That’s natural. What’s not natural is pulling up to Planned Parenthood to have your child suctioned out. This song embodies everything messed up about our current culture, and I will spend the rest of my life calling it out and seeking to fix it.”
