(LifeSiteNews) Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is urging voters to “put on the full armor of God” in the fight against the policies of the left during upcoming midterm elections.

DeSantis encouraged a crowd of supporters to “com[e] out in full force” to vote this November to send a message to Joe Biden “that we are fighting back against his destructive policies,” and that “Florida will be the vanguard of freedom in this country,” during a speech in Hialeah on Tuesday evening.

“We are fighting for the soul of this country,” said DeSantis, reminding his supporters what is at stake in the gubernatorial election against his rival, now-Democrat Charlie Crist.

He warned against leftist policies undermining law and order that are being implemented all across the country, with the help of George Soros-backed prosecutors. “They’re letting criminals back on the street, refusing to even prosecute people for violating the law,” noted DeSantis.

Florida’s governor emphasized the importance of maintaining “education” instead of “indoctrination,” including “teaching our kids about our Constitution” and “about the fact that our rights come from God, not from the government.”

“We are not gonna let this state be overrun by woke ideology. We will fight the woke in the businesses, we will fight the woke in government agencies, we will fight the woke in our schools, we will never ever surrender to the woke agenda. Florida is the state where woke goes to die,” DeSantis said, to enthusiastic applause.

DeSantis warned against complacency in the upcoming election, since he and his policies are “not just running against a political party or candidate,” but “against national corporate media,” who, he cautioned, will “do whatever they can to derail Florida’s progress.”

“It’s not gonna be easy, but you know what? This state is worth fighting for. Our country is worth fighting for. So put on the full armor of God, and take a stand against the left’s schemes. Stand firm for truth,” he declared.

The renowned governor echoed his recent statement released by his reelection campaign, shared by the New York Post.

“Freedom is on the line this November — and our bold agenda for parental rights in education, safe communities, a vibrant economy, and a protected environment is vital to keeping the state of Florida free,” DeSantis stated.

“Our state is worth fighting for, and I am calling on all Floridians to put on the full armor of God as we will fight tooth and nail to protect Florida from the destructive agenda of Joe Biden and his number one ally in Florida, Charlie Crist,” he added.

Under DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has been hailed around the world, particularly since the onset of the COVID-19, for being one of the freest places in the globe, as many other locales have buckled under harsh COVID restrictions.

DeSantis has also been widely praised for the strong and prolific measures he has taken against woke, leftist policies, such as protecting young children from LGBTQ grooming and indoctrination; protecting students and employees alike from critical race theory, which many have charged with being a racist ideology; removing a Soros-backed attorney who refused to enforce the state’s abortion ban; preventing woke social justice standards from dictating Florida pension investments; and protecting conservatives against speech discrimination from Big Tech.

DeSantis’ gubernatorial opponent Charlie Crist, who himself served as Florida’s governor from 2007 to 2011, switched parties to run as a Democrat after his term in office. Crist is being supported by California governor Gavin Newsom, who has been increasingly disparaged over the past few years for what critics say are policies contributing to an exodus of California residents.
