(LifeSiteNews) — U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed that Democrat U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota married her brother.

Mullin revealed during an interview with conservative podcast host Benny Johnson that there is an ongoing investigation.

Omar is a founding member of “the squad,” a far-left progressive faction of the Democratic Party. She immigrated to the United States from Somalia in 1995 and was naturalized in 2000.

“We know that she married her brother to try to bring him into the United States. We know he lives now in London,” Mullin said. “There may be more to this … possibly some illegal activity.”

The DHS Secretary explained that this is “not a political case” and that his department is currently looking into a lot of similar cases where “there may have been fraud from the get-go.”

“I don’t make the laws anymore,” said the former member of Congress, who is now “in charge of enforcing the laws.”

“I will not pick and choose which laws I’m going to enforce and which I’m not,” Mullin said. “I’m going to enforce all of them regardless of who you are.”

“If we can prove that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we’ll deport you,” he promised.

Omar has been accused of fraud on multiple accounts since her first run for the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016.  She called the claims “absurd and offensive” in a statement to a Minnesota Fox affiliate.

If Omar were to be found guilty of immigration fraud, she could face removal from Congress and denaturalization, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
