ORLANDO, July 17 (LSN) Disney has been desperatedly trying to brush off the significance of boycotts urged by Christian groups such as the large Southern Baptist denomination, but recent reports indicate that the company’s stock value has dropped sharply by 17% in the past two months, while attendance at Disney theme parks has also dropped off. Pro-family organizations and Christian groups have urged boycotts as people have become increasingly disgusted at the explicit homosexual advocacy and attacks on the church evident in modern Disney offerings.  Other developments include a 9% drop in viewers for the ABC television network, a Disney subsidiary,  which is now in third place after CBS and NBC. Also, the Texas Board of Education this month voted to dump $45 million in Disney stock from the state school fund. With the vote, Texas became the first state to rid itself of Disney stock in protest against the content of its films, specifically “sexual themes,  anti-family violence and homosexuality in films produced by Miramax, a Disney subsidiary.” Despite such developments, Disney chief Michael Eisner appears unrepentant.  US news source, The Federalist Digest, said Disney officials blame the attendance drop on El Nino weather problems. The Digest comments:  “Considering the fact that ‘El Nino’ translates as ‘Christ Child,’ it is possible that all of Disney’s problems are related to El Nino!”
