WASHINGTON, Oct 13 (LSN) – The American Family Association (AFA) reported Friday that the Walt Disney Company has come out in opposition to a congressional measure that would protect children from online pornography. On Wednesday the US House passed legislation requiring all web sites to verify an adult’s age before allowing them to view pornographic material or other material deemed “harmful to minors.”  Disney and others, including America Online, Motion Picture Association of America, and Microsoft lobbied House members against the Child On-Line Protection Act (COPLA). AFA Vice President Tim Wildmon said that “By opposing this bill, Disney demonstrates that it is insincere when it says it cares about families and children.”“All the company cares about is making a buck off everything possible, including soft-core porn.”  The bill still requires Senate approval.
