DISNEY PREACHING AND PRACTICING POPULATION CONTROL
NEW YORK, Aug 12 (LSN) – Another Disney pro-population control propaganda film aimed at children has been discovered amid allegations that Disney is forcibly contracepting employees in its Haitian sweatshops. Population Research International first reported on a 1968 Disney cartoon called Family Planning which promoted population control, and a 1996 Disney production called “Populations” continues the propaganda.
The piece stars the popular children’s character Bill Nye the “Science Guy” producing misleading information and falsehoods generating Malthusian and apocalyptic nightmares of overpopulation. “We have to find a way to restrict the rate of growth of the human population. Otherwise, it’s going to get out of control. There won’t be enough for everyone to eat. It’s going to be hard for everyone” says the main character in a dramatic scene.
PRI notes that “Populations” was made by Disney Educational Productions for use in public schools in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, Rabbit Ears Productions, and KCTS 9 Public Television, Seattle. PRI also quotes a February 2, 1999 C-SPAN program during which Anita Roddick, founder and CEO of the Body Shop cited a report on sweatshops by the National Labour Committee (a human rights group). Describing the conditions in the “Haitian places where they make your sacred cow Disney products,” Roddick said “you saw the women being lined up and being forced to have contraceptive pills, or being injected … working inside locked environments.”
