BOSTON, May 9, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A doctor who made two botched abortion attempts has voluntarily submitted to indefinite suspension from medical practice by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Dr. Jian Yu, a graduate of Hunan Medical College in China, charged $500 for the abortions in his poorly-equipped Malden, Mass. clinic, which had no staff and not even running water.  Yu administered two painkillers to a patient when she “expressed a fear of pain as he began a vacuum aspiration procedure on her,” according to local coverage. “Patient A was crying from the pain,” said the official report, and faced grave risk of hemorrhaging and death.  Although he told her he had aborted a fist-sized unborn baby, in fact she came back to his office a month later still pregnant. He then repeated the vacuum aspiration, but found the baby too big to remove. He tried to induce contractions and told her to call him if she started bleeding again.  When she found the pain unbearable, she went to hospital with a fever of 102.8 degrees. She delivered a fully formed 16 to 20 week dead baby weighing 1 lb. 2 oz. in the emergency room. Yu was found to have shown incompetence and “gross negligence,” submitting voluntarily to suspension in the hopes to returning to practice sooner.  For local coverage:  https://www2.bostonherald.com/news/local_regional/abor05082003.htm   For related LifeSite coverage:  DOCTOR’S LICENSE REVOKED FOR BOTCHED ABORTION https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2003/may/03050707.html   BOTCHED ABORTION DOCTOR STILL ON MEDICAL REGISTER https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2003/apr/03040907.html   WOMAN LOSES SEVERAL ORGANS IN HOSPITAL ABORTION https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2003/mar/03030410.html
