TORONTO (LifeSiteNews) — Premier Doug Ford has told the Freedom Convoy protesters to leave Parliament Hill and “let the people of Ottawa live their lives.”

Despite imposing extreme restrictions and continuous lockdowns on his population for the past two years, Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Premier Doug Ford told the Freedom Convoy protesters currently demonstrating against dictatorial COVID-19 measures in Ottawa to “move on” as they are disrupting the lives and businesses of the city’s residents.

“People have to move on,” Doug Ford told reporters on Tuesday morning. “I get it. I hear you, but we have to let the people of Ottawa live their lives.”

He added: “There’s a million people that live in Ottawa. I hear you. I hear the protesters, the province hears the protesters, the country hears the protesters.”

“Now it’s time to let the people in Ottawa get back to their lives. These businesses that have been closed for a while now, the restaurants want to reopen.”

While insisting that the people of Ottawa should be allowed to get back to normal and reopen their businesses, Ford himself has forcibly shut down Ontario businesses for weeks at a time. In fact, because Ottawa is in Ontario, many of the businesses currently closed there now were closed by Ford just weeks ago during a lockdown in response to the omicron variant of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called Canadians protesting COVID measures a “small fringe minority”, but a recent poll from reputable pollster Angus Reid found that a total of 54 percent of Canadians say it’s time to “remove restrictions and let Canadians manage their own level of risk.”

As restrictions continue to be imposed on Canadians, a growing body of data is indicating that vaccine mandates and passports have been a failed strategy for tackling COVID.

Since the truckers’ Freedom Convoy arrived in Ottawa, many Canadian premiers have walked back or signaled their intent to walk back various COVID restrictions.

On Monday, Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe announced he is planning to axe all public health measures in his province by the end of February. In Alberta, premier Jason Kenney stated he hopes his province’s vaccine passport will be gone by the end of March, and the premier of Quebec announced he is scrapping his controversial “health contribution” tax that would have financially penalized the unvaccinated.

Many consider COVID mandates a gross assault on individual freedoms and argue that they are unnecessary, given COVID-19’s high survivability among most groups, its now understood minimal risk of asymptomatic spread, the fact that coronavirus vaccine trials have never produced evidence that the shots reduce transmission of the virus, and research indicating that post-infection natural immunity is far superior to vaccine-induced immunity.
