VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — The Dutch Cardinal Wim Eijk has revealed he asked for Pope Francis to issue an encyclical condemning gender theory, having made calls for such a document in previous years.

Dutch Catholic newspaper Katholiek Nieuwsblad reported that Eijk made the comments while in Rome last week for the Dutch Catholic Bishops’ ad limina visit.

“I asked if it would not be good if the pope issued an encyclical on gender theory,” Eijk told journalists.

“Gender theory is being pushed in all kinds of organizations and yet we as a Church have not said that much about it,” added Eijk, who has served as Archbishop of Utrecht since 2007.

While his request was seemingly not made directly to Pope Francis, Eijk stated he had registered the request with American Cardinal Kevin Farfell, prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.

Eijk has previously made similar warnings about the prevalence of gender ideology. In 2016, he declared that an encyclical “might appear to be necessary” in order to combat the spread of gender ideology.

“It [gender theory] is spreading and spreading everywhere in the Western world, and we have to warn people,” said Eijk. He added that Catholics were accepting the radical ideology “in a very easy way, even parents, because they don’t hear anything else.”

“From the point of moral theology, it’s clear — you are not allowed to change your sex in this way,” he said.

Eijk echoed this at the 2019 Rome Life Forum, stating that exposing the errors of gender theory is “of the utmost urgency, because as a result of that theory, not only sexual morality, but also the proclamation of the Christian faith in itself, are at stake.”

Having previously blamed Amoris Laetitia for “fracturing” the Church, Eijk has also stated Pope Francis could possibly be part of the “final trial” for the Church before the second coming of Christ.

In recent weeks, Eijk – a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life – condemned the Belgian Catholic bishops for publishing a rite of blessing for same-sex couples, stating “it is not morally permissible to bless the homosexual relationship as such.”

As reported on LifeSiteNews, Pope Francis has appointed outspoken pro-abortion economist Mariana Mazzucato to be one of the new “Ordinary Academicians” for the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAV).

In addition to being a speaker at the World Economic Forum – the globalist group behind the socialist, anti-Christian “Great Reset” agenda – Mazzucato is enthusiastically pro-abortion, in direct contradiction to unchangeable teaching of the Catholic Church!

SIGN: Pope Francis must remove Mazzucato from the PAV - the unborn deserve champions of life, not death!

Mazzucato’s appointment contradicts the PAV’s statutes. While the statutes say that members can be of any religion, new Academicians must “commit themselves to promoting and defending the principles regarding the value of life and the dignity of the human person, interpreted in a way consonant with the Church’s Magisterium.”

Mazzucato’s appointment was defended not only by the PAV, but by Francis himself. In an interview on Sunday, November 6th, the Pope confirmed that he had personally picked the pro-abortion economist as an addition to institution: “And now I have put Marianna Mazzucato in the Pontifical Academy for Life. She is a great economist from the United States. I put her there to give a little more humanity to it.”

Pope Francis’ appointment of one who is so radically against the precepts of the Church causes nothing but confusion for the Faithful – this is a source of scandal.

SIGN: Pope Francis must remove Mazzucato from the PAV - this scandal in the Church must stop!

In a time where leftist elites are continually attacking Christian values, we need strong pro-life and pro-family warriors to champion Catholic values in the public square. Mazzucato is NOT the person who should be on the PAV.

The Pope and the PAV think they can corrupt Catholic values with the excuse of giving the Church “a little more humanity.” The Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion is a non-negotiable issue – abortion disregards the sanctity of human life and the Pope know that this is an intrinsic evil.

Don’t let Francis and the PAV get away with this! We must take a stand to ensure this attack on the Catholic faith comes to an end.

ADD YOUR NAME to the growing list of REAL pro-life and pro-family warriors – tell Pope Francis to take back his nomination of radical pro-abortion Mazzucato to the Pontifical Academy for Life!

However, after gaining a reputation for defending the Church’s traditional teaching, the 69-year-old prelate confused Catholics last year, when he argued that taking the abortion-tainted COVID-19 injection was a “moral obligation.”

Eijk stated that taking the injection was a “moral obligation but that doesn’t imply it’s a juridical one,” while also stating that “compulsory vaccination is not ethically justified and the vaccine should be taken voluntarily.”

LifeSiteNews has reported extensively on the inherent dangers of gender ideology, highlighting the harm which the movement causes to gender-confused individuals, particularly children, many of whom are enticed into taking hormone stopping drugs or “sex change” surgery.

Secure a home for our Canceled Priests
Cancel culture has reached the Church. It is real. Now, it is imperative that we pray for and support the priests, bishops, and religious who have fallen victim.
