Earth Day: Humanity — Earth’s best friend By Pierre Desrochers

Behind Earth Day lies the view that humans are alien to nature. A larger and more prosperous population does not just mean more mouths to feed but also more brains and more creative people, as well as more resources for creating new technologies. Human beings are not just exploiters of nature but also remarkable resource creators whose actions, without this being their primary aim, generally have beneficial effects in environmental terms.

Earth Day: An Assault on Man By Brian Sussman

Earth Day is not a celebration of this glorious planet, but instead an assault on man — and the current energy bill is an assault on America.

I then ask another curious question: “What does April 22 signify to you?” Without exception, someone will shout with great displeasure, “Lenin’s birth date!”

The American Clean Energy and Security Act passed by the House proposes green economic schemes that should frighten us greatly. For example, buried on pages 1014-1016 of the bill is the “Monthly Energy Refund.” According to this trick, for those with a gross income that “does not exceed 150 percent of the poverty line … a direct deposit” of an undisclosed amount of money will be sent “into the eligible household’s designated bank account[.]”

And then there are the new federally mandated building codes, which will supersede local rules and regulations. The new codes will be enforced by what I refer to in Climategate as a “green goon squad.”

The Earth Day before yesterday – Mark Alexander

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the founding of “Earth Day” by former Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson. It’s also V.I. Lenin’s birthday — which is no coincidence. Nelson modeled his anti-capitalist protests after anti-Vietnam War demonstrations of that era.

The objective of the earth-worshippers is to create a central authority over industrial production in the West through mechanisms like the Orwellian Kyoto Treaty. Their method is to portray industrial atmospheric emissions as a primary determinant of global climate. Their goal, consistent with both Nelson and Lenin, is to crush or at least bridle free-enterprise capitalism. The Kyoto Protocol, for example, hamstrings Western industrialized nations but exempts socialist states like India and China

Commenting on the misuse of science to support political agendas, Harvard’s Dr. Malcolm Ross concludes of such folly, “Freeze or fry, the problem is always industrial capitalism, and the solution is always international socialism.”

“The golden rule among environmental groups is ‘never, ever admit that progress has been achieved — especially when Republicans are in power.’ It’s awfully tough for those organizations to raise money if donors aren’t kept in a constant state of panic.”

A Green-Shirt Youth Corps

New York Times: How to Green Your Parents. Here’s a move in the right direction: launching this Earth Day is Green My Parents, a nationwide effort to inspire and organize kids to lead their families in measuring and reducing environmental impact at home. Not just on Earth Day, but every day. GMP’s initial goal is to have its first 100 youth advocates train and educate 100 peers (who will then turn to 100 of their respective peers and so on),

The Global-Warming Tax

Never has a public-policy agenda been pursued with so little regard for scientific fact or public opinion. In March, 48 percent of Americans agreed that global warming, while real, is exaggerated. When Gallup first asked this question in 1997, only 31 percent thought the threat exaggerated.

Despite this shift in sentiment, Sens. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) and John Kerry (D., Mass.) and President Obama insist upon ramming a new global-warming tax (called a “fee”) through the Senate. The bill is slated to be introduced next week, and vulnerable Democrats — weary already from the pugilistic health-care debate — are fleeing the legislation in droves.

Global Warming Hysteria: UN “Process” Under Threat of Collapse by Wesley J. Smith

The United Nation process is in danger of collapsing unless countries are able to agree on the best way to stop global warming by the end of this year, the outgoing head of climate change negotiations has warned…Mr de Boer, who will leave his post in June, said the world cannot afford another failure.

Climategate Meets the Law: Senator Inhofe To Ask for DOJ Investigation

Inhofe intends to ask for a probe of the embattled climate scientists for possible criminal acts. And he thinks Gore should be recalled to explain his prior congressional testimony.

“In [Gore’s] science fiction movie, every assertion has been rebutted,” Inhofe said. He believes Vice President Gore should defend himself and his movie before Congress. Adding possible criminal charges to the mix increases the possibility that some of the people involved may choose to blow the whistle in order to protect themselves.

Earth Day Hysteria – Wesley J. Smith

I find it interesting that supposed supporters of “science” are more upset with warming skeptics than hysterics. The hysterics are the ones who act like Chicken Little–predicting increasingly catastrophic DOOM!!!! unless we act IMMEDIATELY!!! to SAVE THE PLANET!!!! They are like the proverbial religious crank carrying a sign, stating, “The End of the World is Nigh!,” except the crank is harmless while the hysterics have potential to cause real harm.

Here’s an example from Newsweek–which really has become a disgrace on many levels–pitching hyper hysteria by identifying 100 of the earth’s most beautiful places that will soon be destroyed by global warming. From “100 Places to Remember Before They Disappear”:

Earth Day Anti Humanism at the Movies – Wesley J. Smith

As an intrinsically moral species, we may be congenitally incapable of literal agnosticism: We will always believe in something — and that “something” increasingly looks like a radical earth religion that views human beings as the enemies of the planet.

NYT: 56% Trust Weathercasters More Than Gore On Global Warming

A study released on Monday by researchers at George Mason University and the University of Texas at Austin found that only about half of the 571 television weathercasters surveyed believed that global warming was occurring and fewer than a third believed that climate change was “caused mostly by human activities.” More than a quarter of the weathercasters in the survey agreed with the statement “Global warming is a scam,” the researchers found.

NASA Data Worse Than Climate-Gate Data, Space Agency Admits

NASA can put a man on the moon, but the space agency can’t tell you what the temperature was back then. E-mail messages obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that NASA concluded that its own climate findings were inferior to those maintained by both the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) — the scandalized source of the leaked Climate-gate e-mails — and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.

James Cameron trashes Glenn Beck

‘Avatar’ director wants to debate Fox News host. The “Avatar” director was equally unsparing in his comments about those who don’t accept global warming as fact. “That’s right,” Cameron said. “I want to call those deniers out into the street at high noon and shoot it out with those boneheads.”

Top Climate Scientist’s Exoneration Won’t Be the Last Word

Penn State’s investigation came under severe attack by critics who argued that the university failed to interview any hostile witnesses, failed to examine the methodology that was at the heart of the controversy and was more concerned that the millions of dollars in grant money it gets by having Mann on the faculty could be jeopardized by adverse findings.

“It was set up to be a total whitewash, and the panel made no effort to investigate,” said Steven Milloy, publisher of Junk Science, a Web site that casts doubt on global-warming research. “They didn’t even interview the recipients of the e-mails. It is ridiculous,” he told

Climategate Whitewash

CRU scientists who removed caveats from IPCC reports are praised for warning of uncertainties in their published work. Climategate scientists cleared of wrongdoing” read the headline in yesterday’s Post. Who expected anything else? The two self-inquiries launched by the University of East Anglia into its Climatic Research Unit (CRU) were always destined to produce whitewashes, as did a recent UK parliamentary inquiry, and as will an “independent” review by the UN.

United States the heartland of climate-change skepticism

On a global level, Pew found last year that concern over global warming was far less pronounced in America than elsewhere. It found that 44% of Americans thought it was a “very serious problem” versus 90% of Brazilians. In France it was 68% and in Japan 65%. Other polls have shown similar differences.

‘Kill the Avatar bill!’ By Peter Foster

Canadian Parliament Bill C-300’s origins lay in the success of these NGOs in insinuating themselves into the political process. This could not have happened without politicians opening the corridors of power to the NGO Trojan Horse. This open door policy has been synonymous with the rise of radical environmentalism, which has in turn been part of a larger political strategy to rescue socialist economics from the dustbin of history.

One of the masterminds of this plan was Canadian Maurice Strong, who was also a central figure in setting up the pseudo-scientific process of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Significantly, one of the major sources of government funding for the NGOs behind Bill C-300 is the Canadian International Development Agency, an agency founded by Mr. Strong.

Canadian companies already face enormous problems in doing straight business with crooked — or merely economic nationalist — governments. The last thing they need is to have the other hand tied behind their backs by government-funded anti-development eco-fanatics.

BMI Special Report: Networks Hide the Decline in Credibility of Climate Change Science

The Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute examined every network report containing the terms “global warming” or “climate change” on morning and evening newscasts between Nov. 20, 2009, (the day the ClimateGate scandal broke) and April 1, 2010. These were some of BMI’s findings:

Fears over global warming leads to murder-suicide

Argentines Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, shot their children before killing themselves after making an apparent suicide pact over fears about global warming.
