BERKELEY, CA, February 21, 2014 (LifeSiteNews) – An unsuspecting group of elementary and middle school children witnessed vulgar and sexually-explicit sights when they visited the campus of the University of California at Berkeley this week.

While walking through the campus, the children witnessed such sights as a man dressed in a giant penis costume and students playing “pin-the-tail on the anus” or throwing condoms through holes on poster boards meant to represent vaginas.

Though these events were pre-planned and school-sponsored, student Claire Chiara said that “it was poor planning on the part of the Tang Center to put up the Sex Ed tent in front of Sproul Hall, as that is the most popular spot on campus for tour groups to stop.”

These events were held as part of National Condom Week, a tradition established in the 1970’s at UC-Berkeley to promote “safe sex.”

Meant to coincide with the week of Valentine’s Day, National Condom Week is observed by colleges across the country and by organizations such as Planned Parenthood as a way to encourage people to use condoms, even asking college students to “check in” where they had sex using the free condoms.

According to a report by Katherine Timpf at Campus Reform, the man dressed as a giant penis was “handing out condoms, although he was not permitted to hand them to the children.”
