(LifeSiteNews) — Elon Musk has made good on earlier threats and announced the creation of a new political party, the “America Party,” in response to what he called bipartisan complicity in bankrupting the United States.
In a series of X posts, Musk accused both major parties of expanding government and saddling the country with unprecedented debt – singling out former President Donald Trump and his allies for backing the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a spending package Musk claims would increase the national debt by $5 trillion.
The billionaire CEO’s announcement followed a July 4 Twitter poll he ran, which received 1,248,856 votes. 65.4 percent voted in favor of the creation of the America Party.

So far, there seems to be no formal political infrastructure. However, Musk has hinted at a tactical focus of an “extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.”

Elsewhere, he was more specific, setting out a plan for creating a swing bloc in Congress:
One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts.
Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.

Musk has also indicated his policy intentions by reposting supporters setting out suggested manifestos, including his usual talking points of cutting spending, deregulating energy, boosting AI and robotics in defence, free speech, and pro-natalist policies.

He also reposted a tweet from Scott Adams, indicating that his strategy does not involve platforming presidential candidates.
If you are an “analogy thinker,” you compare Musk’s new America Party to Ross Perot’s third-party run and conclude it is bad for Republicans.
But that would only be the case if Musk someday backs an American Party candidate for president, and I don’t see that in his plan.

While Musk has previously clashed with Democrats, the weekend salvo marked a shift in tone toward Trump, whom he directly linked to the controversial spending plan.
Without naming Trump directly, he alluded again to the Epstein scandal, by reposting a Ghislaine Maxwell image and other related memes – hitting back at the DOJ and FBI findings that Epstein did not have a client list.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has dismissed the idea as “ridiculous,” claimed that Musk was a “train wreck” and “completely off the rails.”

Despite accusing Musk of “hypocrisy,” and attributing his opposition to the defunding of electric vehicles, Trump acknowledged that Musk had been aware of plans to cut spending on such projects and agreed with it himself. Before and after the 2024 presidential election, Musk spoke against government subsidies, including ones for electric vehicles, stating that Tesla would benefit if they were eliminated.
Whether Musk’s “America Party” becomes a formal third-party force remains unclear. But Musk’s announcement reflects mounting elite dissatisfaction with both parties – and a willingness to intervene directly.
