(LifeSiteNews) – Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, has used his vast platform to endorse Republican candidates for Congress in tomorrow’s hugely important midterm election.

Musk, who has 115 million Twitter followers, reached out to voters aligned with neither the Democrat or Republican Party.

“To independent-minded voters:  Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” wrote the Twitter CEO.

He then added a note encouraging Independents to exercise their voting power, writing “Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!”

Musk’s tweet, published at 10:22 AM today, garnered over 100,000 “Likes” in less than an hour.

Earlier this year Musk signaled his intention to vote for Republicans for the first time in his life.

“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican,” Musk wrote “Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold.”
