June 11 2015, (LifeSiteNews) – In a rarely seen move, Europe’s MEPs have voted to defend “gender diversity” in childhood, and renewed calls for the World Health Organization to remove gender identity disorders from its international manual classifying disorders.
The call comes as part of a radical and far-reaching report that could advance the imposition of gender ideology and the LGBTI agenda, worldwide contraception, abortion, and sex education in schools.
The “EU Strategy for equality between women and men post 2015” report from the EU’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, was brought before parliament by German MEP Maria Noichl, of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the EU.
Following debates on the floor, MEPs voted for the measure 341-281, with 81 abstentions.
In it, the report laments that “traditional gender roles and stereotypes still exert a great deal of influence over the division of labor in the home, in education, in careers, in the workplace and in society in general,” and demands that “as the composition and definition of families change over time,
family and work legislation be made more comprehensive with regard to single-parent families and LGBT parenting.”
The report also calls for a separate LBGTI rights roadmap in Europe, including the combating of what it considers homophobic bullying in schools. Many see this as a guise for furthering the LGBT agenda among children and teenagers.
Evelyne Paradis, the executive director of LGBT lobbying group ILGA-Europe, said, “The adoption of a strategy, tailored to the real needs of LGBTI people in Europe, is the only way to ensure coherence and protection.”
The MEPs gave their backing to the report’s call for the World Health Organization to “withdraw gender identity disorders from the list of mental and behavioral disorders, and to ensure a non-pathologizing reclassification in the negotiations on the 11th version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).” Similar calls were introduced in September 2011 and April 2012.

Turning to children and teens, the report goes further, demanding that the WHO “ensure that gender diversity in childhood is not pathologized.”
Pro-family campaigns are calling this an appalling move, which follows numerous cases of children labelled and treated as transgender by their parents, and broadly covered in the secular media.
The pro-family lobby group European Dignity Watch has described the report as an “all-in-one-package that pushes a controversial and ideological agenda.”
“Instead of tackling the many real and existing issues faced by families, youths and women in Europe today, it rejects common sense – and ignores the voice of the vast majority of European families,” the group said.
The report also carries sections devoted to sexual and reproductive rights including ‘safe, legal, and easily accessible’ contraception and abortion, together with explicit sex education programs in schools.
The report's supporters call for the EU to ensure its international development cooperation underscores that sexual and reproductive health – usually understood to include contraception and abortion – is considered a fundamental human right, and “emphasises the right to voluntarily access family planning services, including safe and legal abortion-related care.”
An alternative report proposed by the center-right European People’s Party was rejected.
