August 7, 2013 (American Life League) – The Population Media Center (PMC), creator of East Los High, is intimately interwoven with Planned Parenthood. William Ryerson, founder and president of PMC, has a “42-year history of working in the field of reproductive health,” according to his bio on the PMC website. That includes “25 years of experience adapting the Sabido methodology for behavior change communications to various cultural settings worldwide.”

He worked for Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania as development director, and held the position of associate director of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.

The organization exists to change society—to change the attitudes and behavior of society, so that it is modeled after PMC’s own philosophy. Its mission statement says:

Our mission is to collaborate with the mass media and other organizations worldwide to:

1. Bring about stabilization of human population numbers at a level that can be sustained by the world’s natural resources

2. Lessen the harmful impact of humanity on the earth’s environment

The emphasis of the organization’s work is to educate people about the benefits of small families, encourage the use of effective family planning methods, elevate women’s status, and promote gender equity.

Describing its soap opera model for social change, the website goes on to say:

Using Soap Operas for Social Change

PMC uses a specialized methodology for creating serialized dramas that are effective in changing attitudes and behavior related to people’s health and well-being. Our serial dramas are based on extensive formative research regarding audience attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs.

The long-running serialized dramas are written and produced locally to be country specific and culturally sensitive. The dramas do more than provide audiences with information; they effectively motivate people to change attitudes and behavior.

The advantage of a long-running serial drama is that it allows time for the audience to form emotional bonds with the characters and become invested in their triumphs and travails. As the audience follows these highly entertaining programs, they vicariously experience the rewards and punishments the characters receive as they act out the culture’s positive and negative values. These characters are written to be most representative of the target audience, so that the audience identifies with them and is, therefore, engaged by the drama. Having become emotionally involved with these characters, the audience is motivated and empowered to try the new attitudes and behaviors modeled for them.

In reading the PMC 2010-2011 annual report, one comes to understand that PMC is using its soap opera model to indoctrinate black and Latino populations on several continents to embrace government programs of population suppression. It is no wonder, then, that PMC is involved with Planned Parenthood in targeting the Hispanic population in the United States and beyond, via Hulu Internet television and the East Los High series.

PMC is also partnering with MTV in producing a novella to air across Latin America. It brags of an “estimated audience reach of 22 million households over 23 territories.” This “work” is funded “by an individual donor,” and will provide a model for worldwide indoctrination into the eugenically centered Planned Parenthood philosophy.

Some of its scare tactic messaging blurbs are highlighted in the PMC annual report:

“If everyone lived the lifestyle of an American, we would need five planets.”

“An American can prevent 20 times more carbon pollution by having 1 fewer kid than by adopting a number of eco-friendly habits, like driving less or switching to efficient windows and lightbulbs for an entire lifetime.”

On its advisory board are such high profile abortion promoters as Gloria Steinem, as well as Robert J. Wyman from Planned Parenthood of Connecticut leadership council and Connecticut NARAL. Population bomb scare author extraordinaire Paul R. Erlich sits on the board as well, with Lindsey Grant, another anti-population growth author and advocate, and a host of other so-called “expert” advocates for zero-population growth.

Bullying its success in changing the black population of Nigeria, it reports: “In Nigeria, almost 12.2 million people aged 15-59 listened to PMC’s radio drama at least weekly. Listeners were 5.6 times more likely to report using something to delay or avoid pregnancy after broadcast than before.”

With a $4 million annual budget, PMC represents a danger to black and Hispanic populations worldwide—a danger that everyone fighting to keep Planned Parenthood away from our youth should be aware of.
