February 2, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg has given a $1 million donation to Planned Parenthood.

The abortion giant confirmed the gift in an email to Refinery29 and noted that the social media platform's chief operating officer is a regular, long-term donor.

“On behalf of the more that two million patients who come to Planned Parenthood each year, we are so grateful to Sheryl Sandberg for her longstanding, and now increased, support for our healthcare,” Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards said in a statement.

The purported not-for-profit abortion organization is searching for additional sources of revenue while facing the possibility under the new Trump administration that government funding in the U.S. will be cut off. International taxpayer funding for abortions was axed within the first week of the pro-life president taking office.

Last week, Sandberg condemned Trump's reinstatement of a policy that blocks NGO’s around the world from receiving U.S. taxpayer funds if they perform abortions or discuss them in “family planning.” She called for the reversal of the global gag rule through a bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-NY.

“I started my career working at the World Bank on healthcare in India,” Sandberg wrote January 27 on Facebook. “I saw firsthand how clinics funded by foreign aid are often the only source of healthcare for women.

“When women are given even the most basic health care information and services, they live longer, healthier lives — and they give birth to children who live longer, healthier lives. … The best way to prevent abortion is through more family planning services, not fewer. … Women’s rights are human rights — and there is no more basic right than healthcare. Women around the world deserve our support.”

Sandberg also slammed Trump's immigration policy, using the moment to champion “women’s rights” by saying it's “particularly unforgiving” for women.

Sandberg was a vocal supporter of Democratic candidate and pro-abortion advocate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race. She was also rumored to be Clinton's pick for Treasury Secretary.

Richards welcomed Sandberg's generous donation.

“It's especially important right now as extreme politicians want to defund and shut down Planned Parenthood, which would deny millions of people — nearly half of whom are people of color, and many people who live in rural areas — the healthcare they rely on,” Richards wrote.

Fearing the organization could its major source of funds, Richards declared, “Shutting down Planned Parenthood would create a national health disaster for women.”

Richards said the organization has experienced a surge in private donations recently, but not enough to offset the potential loss of hundreds of millions in reimbursements that Planned Parenthood receives from Medicaid for provision of “health services.”

“We will never stop fighting for our patients and we thank everyone who, like Sheryl, has redoubled their commitment during this fight,” Richards said.

“Health services” is actually a misnomer that Planned Parenthood executives, mainstream media, and abortion advocates like to use. Abortions make up 97 percent of the “services” the organization offers and not the 3 percent figure that it touts.

Providing actual “healthcare” services, as Planned Parenthood claims, is virtually nonexistent, as discovered by Live Action undercover investigations.

In undercover video released in January, Live Action exposed the fact that Planned Parenthood does not provide prenatal care as part of their services.

After making phone calls and in-person visits to 97 clinics around the country, Live Action investigators found that prenatal care for women was basically nowhere to be found at Planned Parenthood facilities. The answer every time was almost always “No, we don’t … we only specialize in abortions.”

In 2014, Planned Parenthood made $127 million in profits, which does not take into account the illegal sale of aborted baby body parts. A 2016 Center for Medical Progress undercover video revealed officials admitting on camera to making money from selling unborn baby parts.
