WASHINGTON, D.C., December 10, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) — Leading marriage advocate and Princeton professor Robert George has been hospitalized with what is reportedly an aortic arterial dissection.

According to the Mayo Clinic, “an aortic dissection is a serious condition in which the inner layer of the aorta, the large blood vessel branching off the heart, tears. Blood surges through the tear, causing the inner and middle layers of the aorta to separate (dissect). If the blood-filled channel ruptures through the outside aortic wall, aortic dissection is often fatal.”

George is Professor of Juriprudence at Princeton University, Director of Princeton’s James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, and Chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. He is also the co-founder of the National Organization of Marriage and founder of the American Principles Project.
