OTTAWA, Nov 9 (LSN) Eric Lowther, the Official Opposition Critic for Children and Families, announced Friday that the Reform Party has committed itself to performing a “family impact assessment” on all future government bills to ensure they are “family friendly.” In a press release, Lowther noted that the legislation will be scrutinized for its impact on “family income, family safety, parental rights and responsibilities, and family stability.” Pro-family forces in Canada are hopeful that the move will help shine a spotlight on threatening legislation such as the intrusive elements of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child which threaten to undermine parental rights.
