OTTAWA, Feb 5, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Canadian Alliance MP Gary Breitkreuz (Yorkton—Melville) has introduced the first pro-life motion in the current parliament. The motion, which must first be drawn in a lottery before it can be presented to the House for consideration reads: “That, in the opinion of this House, the government should bring in legislation defining a “human being” as a human fetus or embryo from the moment of conception, whether in the womb of the mother or not and whether conceived naturally or otherwise, and making any and all consequential amendments required.”

Dennis Young, assistant to Mr. Breitkreuz, told LifeSite that this motion was the MP’s top priority and that a similar motion was submitted during the last parliament but it was never drawn in the lottery.
