Five Texas abortionists to face disciplinary hearings after pro-life undercover investigation
AUSTIN, Texas, October 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNEws.com) - The Texas Medical Board will conduct disciplinary hearings this week for five of the ten Texas abortionists accused of wrong-doing after an undercover investigation by Operation Rescue.
The pro-life watchdog organization filed complaints with the Board after their three month investigation uncovered evidence of a wide range of illegal activities including violations of informed consent and patient privacy laws, violations of Texas’ 24 hour waiting period, ignoring indications of the sexual abuse of minors, and illegal disposal of aborted baby remains.
Operation Rescue President Troy Newman announced in March the results of the investigation, which was conducted with the help of the pro-life group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust.
“Our investigation focused on what the average woman would experience if she sought an abortion in Texas, and how the abortion clinics appeared and operated on an everyday basis,” said Newman.
“From what we found, women are subjected to a variety of abortion abuses as a matter of routine. Violating the law is standard operating procedure for abortion clinics in Texas,” he added.
According to a press release issued this morning, Newman will attend four of the five Friday hearings as the official complainant against abortionists Robert Hanson, Alan Molson, William W. West, Jr., and Franz Theard.
Cheryl Sullenger, Operation Rescue’s Senior Policy Advisor, will submit a written statement as the complainant in the case of a fifth doctor, Douglas Karpen.
Hearing dates for the other five abortionists, Pedro J. Kowalyszyn, Sherwood C. Lynn, Margaret Kini, Robert L. Prince, and H. Brook Randal, have not yet been set. A final decision on all ten is expected by February of 2012.
