VANCOUVER, Aug 28 (LSN) – Focus on the Family (Canada) yesterday condemned the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council for threatening the freedom of religion in this country. The Christian pro-family organization was responding to a recent ruling “censuring” the organization for a radio broadcast discussing homosexuality.  Dr. Darrel Reid, President of the Christian pro-family organization called on the CBSC to withdraw the decision saying, “this decision represents an assault upon the rights of Canadians to speak of the ramifications of their most deeply-held religious beliefs.”  The CBSC condescended to allow Christians to continue to call homosexuality “sinful,” but apparently without concern for whether or not the statements in the broadcast were true, the broadcasting watchdog ruled as offensive the declaration that support for the homosexual movement was “flimsy.” The CBSC,  chaired by Ron Cohen also did not like the observation that “all gay science … really has very flimsy foundations.”  Furthermore, it charged that what it called attributions “to the gay movement [of] a malevolent, insidious and conspiratorial purpose, a so-called ‘agenda’,” constitutes “abusively discriminatory comment on the basis of sexual orientation.” Dr. Reid noted that “the CBSC made no effort to seek our explanation for the assertions made in the broadcast, and indeed, never even had the courtesy to inform us of their decision.”“Focus on the Family will continue to advocate policies which support the traditional family, the most efficient social safety net in human history, and call the attention of Canadians to policies and movements which, in our opinion, seek to undermine that institution,” said Reid.  To hear Focus on the Family radio for yourself go to:  https://www.family.org/fmedia/broadcast/  Contact the National Chair of the CBSC, Ron Cohen, to protest this ridiculous and alarmingly biased attempt to suppress traditional free speech on a moral issue.  (613) 233-4607 [email protected]
