By Steve Jalsevac
At the end of October I wrote an in-depth article titled, Life vs Death: Beggars vs Giants, about the constant struggles of pro-life, pro-family organizations to obtain even the bare minimum resources required to do their job - the job that Pope John Paul II called “the most important work in the world” and which Benedict XVI said concerns a “duty upon which the future of humanity depends.”
The past few days of the giant Copenhagen conference have abundantly illustrated one of the crucial points in that article – the opponents of life and family are massively funded, with hundreds of millions, even billions of government, foundation and other dollars at their disposal.
That conference, and its now open emphasis on world de-population as a supposed solution to the supposed global warming crisis, is a likely prelude to even more abortion, infanticide, forced sterilizations, explicit sex-ed, promotion of homosexuality and other forms of sterile, childless sex, and on and on.
It is also likely a prelude to far greater and oppressive government control, at all levels, of almost every aspect of our lives – unless we do something substantial to stop it.
And then, in the other corner there is LifeSiteNews and most pro-life, pro-family organizations – truly beggarly in comparison to the obscene largess available to the organizations to which we present an absolutely necessary alternative.
Our fundraising campaign this Christmas season is certainly not breaking any records. And yet, at the same time, there has never in our over 12 years of existence been so much occurring that cries out for our news reports on the truth.
Hopefully, those who have not donated yet, have just not gotten around to filling in that form or sending in that cheque.
To those who have already contributed, we thank you as always. If it were not for you we would, so to speak, have closed the doors long ago.
To those who appreciate our reports but have not yet made a donation – please make a contribution as soon as possible. I have not the slightest hesitation in saying it would be money very well spent for good.
As for specific reasons for making a financial gift to LifeSiteNews, I refer you to the previous articles listed below. I think they convincingly make the case.
We do great things for you with so very little. It's just that the so little is currently still far too little.
Please read “Beggars vs Giants” if you have not done so before. It is an unusual article. It's long, yes, but it is easy reading. We have received praise for it from readers who told us they did not previously understand the things that are revealed in that article.
That Special Report Commentary will help you better understand the significance of the work we do and the power of truth, God's grace and natural law to overcome seemingly impossibly large obstacles. It does, however, require a certain minimum degree of commitment.
The opponents of life, family and faith gain not because of their strength, but in proportion to the weakness and compromise with the world by those who know what is right and wrong, but do nothing or very little to try to stop evil. That has been the character of our civilization for at least the past 40 years. That is the main reason evil is flourishing.
Please donate to LifeSiteNews today– for your children, your grandchildren, the future of your nation, for yourself, for the most innocent and defenceless of all humans whose lives are threatened – and for truth.
