DEARBORN, Michigan, December 15, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Senior executives from the Ford Motor Company met in Washington D.C. with the leadership of national gay and lesbian organizations Monday to reassure them of their continued support for the homosexual agenda.
In a letter sent to the homosexual advocate leaders attending that meeting, the company explained, “You asked us directly to have Jaguar and Land Rover reverse its plans and advertise in gay and lesbian targeted publications in 2006. As we said, Jaguar and Land Rover made a business decision about their media plans and it would be inconsistent with the way we manage our business to have [sic]Âthem to do otherwise. However, it is clear there is a misperception about our intent. As a result, we have decided to run corporate ads in these targeted publications that will include not only Jaguar/Land Rover but all eight of Ford’s vehicle brands.”
Last week, under the impression that Ford had heeded its boycott, the American Family Association (AFA) had announced the cancellation of the boycott. Ford had announced cut-backs from its advertising budget for its money-losing Jaguar and Land Rover divisions, including putting a stop to advertising in homosexual magazines like The Advocate.
Ford claimed at the time that the decision to stop advertising in the homosexual magazines had nothing to do with a looming boycott imposed by the AFA, although Chairman Donald E. Wildmon acknowledged that, “While we still have a few differences with Ford, we feel that our concerns are being addressed in good faith and will continue to be addressed in the future.”
The boycott, initiated in May, was suspended later that same month following talks with several local Ford dealers. The dealers requested a six-month period to see if AFA’s concerns could be addressed apart from a boycott. AFA agreed to their request.
