August 21, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — “The only thing I want is for people to stop seeing me naked,” a former porn star told the Washington Post last week.

Mia Khalifa, “the most-searched adult-film star on the planet,” spoke to the Post about the fact that she only made about $12,000 from her brief stint in porn, while the industry continues to make an enormous profit off of her videos.

But “no amount of money would make it worth it,” she said.

“The adult-entertainment industry … is a murky financial and bandwidth juggernaut,” the liberal newspaper explained. No one knows exactly how many billions of dollars it’s worth.

The 26-year-old shared the difficulties of life after porn: “Khalifa worked as a paralegal afterward, but the faces of men in her office revealed they already knew her[.] … She is instantly recognized everywhere, she has said, even at Disneyland, where she was hounded for photos.”

The report continued:

And her sustained popularity years after her career ended has led many fans to speculate she is still active in the industry and has collected big paychecks from her highly visible profile. That is not the case, she said.

“It feels like being stuck in quicksand,” she said. “There are still millions of people who think I’ve done nothing but porn for the past five years.”

And yet, even a fair compensation for her work is beside the point. It would feel like approving a decision she now regrets. “No amount of money would make it worth it.”

Khalifa joins many other disillusioned ex-porn entertainers, some of whom speak out about their negative experiences or run ministries to help their former colleagues leave the business. Most women don’t stay in the porn industry for long; many are lured in and exploited by deceptive producers.

“I am not for women getting into the [porn] industry,” concluded Khalifa. “I don’t think it’s an industry that should be respected.”
