(LifeSiteNews) – A former Trump official said that an economic collapse in America “by design” is looming.
Monica Crowley, the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of the Treasury under President Trump, made the statement in an interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
Crowley opined that the Democrats in Washington are manufacturing a catastrophic economic outcome.
“We are already in a technical recession” after “two straight quarters of negative growth,” she said.
Crowley believes that the Democrats are “simply buying time… They know things are going to get much worse.”
She hammered home her opinion that any potential economic disaster will be “intentional because they need that period of time of really bad economic collapse in order to slam through their socialist agenda.”
It is “about imploding the U.S. economy,” she added. If an economic collapse were to take place as Crowley suggested, “they [Democrats] can rebuild [society] in this collectivist neo-Marxist vision.”
Crowley rejected the idea of “giving them the benefit of the doubt.”
“This is all by design. It’s all going according to plan.”
She stated that she believes the mass illegal immigration issues at the southern border are part of the economic problem.
“This is all about overwhelming America’s systems in order to destroy them, so that you can rebuild them in your own communist image,” she said.
“That includes the open border. It’s about changing America’s demographics and imploding the country.”
Crowley was a Fox News contributor, where she worked on and off from 1996 to 2017. She is a former online opinion editor for The Washington Times. On July 16, 2019, Trump announced Crowley’s appointment as spokesperson for the Treasury Department.
