WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — A man who used to present himself as a woman has warned that the Biden administration’s push to make it easier for kids to have so-called “gender-affirming care” is “institutionalized child abuse.”
Walter Heyer told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on March 31 that “none of these children need hormone blockers, they don’t need to transition.”
Heyer, who runs a website called “Sex Change Regret” (sexchangeregret.com), said that the Biden administration is “working on destroying an entire generation of children.” Heyer himself underwent “gender reassignment surgery” but later detransitioned.
“One of the things that nobody ever seems to talk about is this one word: consequences,” Heyer said.
The man revealed that his own experience with a “transition,” starting with cross-dressing at the age of four, brought him “emotional, psychological, and eventually… sexual child abuse.”
Parents who encourage their kids to live as if they are the opposite sex “are actually engaging in child abuse,” Heyer declared.
“Now we have the government … actually promoting institutionalized child abuse. It’s destroying children, it’s destroying families, and it’s actually destroying much of society today.”
“No one yet, in history… no doctor, no surgeon, no hormones has ever been able to effect a change of gender biologically in anyone,” he said. “It’s not possible. Nobody can change their gender.”
Heyer also contradicted claims that few people regret their choice to live as the opposite sex.
“I have over 10,000 emails in my inbox in the last 10 years,” he said, citing his “Sex Change Regret” site.
“My website’s got well over 2 million, 3 million views. I’m working with people every day who write me and say, anywhere from 3 week all the way up to 40 years after going through these procedures, ‘I just realised that they didn’t change my gender; all they did was ruin my life.”
“Now detransitioning is becoming almost equally as popular as transitioning,” Heyer said. He said the White House “should take a cue from this” and stop pushing gender ideology.
A recent document from the Biden administration said that “early gender-affirming care is crucial to overall health and well-being” for “transgender and nonbinary children and adolescents.”
This “gender-affirming care,” which can include puberty blockers, the removal of healthy breasts, and the sterilization of reproductive organs, “allows the child or adolescent to focus on social transitions and can increase their confidence while navigating the healthcare system.”
Some Republican states have begun to push back. Texas’ attorney general and governor have determined that pediatric “gender-affirming care” is a form of child abuse.
The legal directives from the Lone Star official led the Texas Children’s Hospital to cease all transgender procedures.
A Florida Republican legislator said he plans to introduce legislation to make it illegal for medical professionals in the state to give drugs and surgery to gender dysphoric kids.
“Next session, I will help shepherd legislation to make it illegal to provide drugs or surgery to a minor for the purpose of alleged ‘gender assignment,'” Rep. Randy Fine wrote on Facebook Monday.
“The legislation will make it felony child abuse punishable by prison and loss of medical license.”
